The right tool does more than make electrical work faster. It helps an electrician measure conditions, locate faults, prepare conductors, and complete connections consistently.

I have worked as an electrician in South Korea since 2009. The tools introduced on this page are equipment I have personally used for construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and installation work. Kyoritsu Electrical Measuring Instrument

Electrical measuring instruments are frequently used when checking voltage, resistance, continuity, and load current. A clamp function can measure current around a conductor without opening the circuit, while probe measurements are used for other electrical checks.

The selected function, measurement range, lead connection, and instrument rating must match the task. One reading should not be treated as proof of every aspect of circuit safety.


Hioki Insulation Resistance Tester

An insulation resistance tester is used when assessing insulation condition before energization or investigating possible leakage and damaged wiring. It applies a DC test voltage and displays the measured insulation resistance.

The appropriate test voltage and interpretation depend on the equipment, connected devices, circuit condition, and applicable procedure. Sensitive equipment may require isolation before testing.

A Tester Does Not Replace Procedure

Reliable results depend on selecting the correct test, isolating the circuit appropriately, connecting the instrument correctly, and understanding what the displayed value actually proves.


Cordless Impact Driver

A cordless impact driver is useful for mounting electrical boxes, securing lighting hardware, and assembling supports or cable-management components. Its speed is valuable on construction sites where many fasteners must be installed.

That speed also requires control. Excessive torque can damage threads, deform equipment, or overtighten a terminal or mounting screw, so final tightening must suit the material and manufacturer’s instructions.

Modified Lineman’s Pliers

Some electricians in Korea make the handles of their pliers thicker by adding recovered cable-sheath material. The modification shown here was made to improve grip comfort and reduce hand fatigue during repeated daily work.

Grip Modification Is Not Electrical Insulation

Adding cable-sheath material does not turn ordinary pliers into certified insulated tools. This modification is described only as a grip adjustment and must never be relied upon for protection from live voltage.


Hydraulic Cable Crimper

Hydraulic crimping tools are used when a terminal requires more controlled compression than a small hand crimper can practically provide. A reliable crimp depends on compatibility among the conductor, terminal, tool, and die.

The tool alone does not guarantee a good connection. Conductor preparation, terminal insertion, die selection, compression position, and final inspection all matter.

How I Choose a Tool

Brand familiarity can be useful, but it is not the only consideration. I select a tool according to the electrical task, measurement category, conductor or terminal size, working space, required control, and the condition of the equipment.

A tool that works well for one job may be unsuitable for another. Inspection before use, correct accessories, and understanding the tool’s limitations are as important as speed or convenience.

Korean Field Note

Many Korean electricians informally call combination or lineman’s pliers “뺀찌” (ppaenjji). The informal name is widely recognized on job sites, although the precise English term depends on the actual design of the pliers.
